First time reader of Elin Hilderbrand ! Often, I have seen her books: in the hands of friends, on the beach, and the library. Winter Street seemed a light read, and the holiday coincided with real life at the time (Christmas)… so why not? Also, the much anticipated sequel was released in the Fall of 2015, Winter Stroll.
The verdict: a humorous, light read about the Quinn family consisting of all kinds of family drama. Kelly Quinn owns the Nantucket Inn, and his annual Christmas party is off to a disastrous start when he walks in on Mitzie (his 2nd wife) kissing Santa Claus! Throw into the mix four adult children ( one who is a Marine and unreachable in Afghanistan) with their own secrets and turmoil, an ex-wife, and dive into the Quinn family’s Christmas.
The book was fun, yet the ending seemed to leave me ….. like it wasn’t much of an ending. I guess that’s why there is a sequel. The characters could have been developed a bit more. I say that because the “Quinn family” is quite likable, and would have liked to know more about them. So of course I had to go read the sequel- Winter Stroll. Stay tuned for that review!
